No, a referral code is not required to sign up. However, if a mate shared a referral link with you, the code will be automatically applied when you register. Referral codes may unlock special perks in the future.
Your Garage
To add a vehicle to your garage:
- Go to the Garage tab
- Tap "Add Vehicle"
- Enter your vehicle details: make, model, year, and trim
- Upload photos (the more angles, the better ratings you'll get!)
- Add optional details like mods, engine specs, and a description
- Save and your ride is live for the community to rate
You can add multiple vehicles to your garage. Whether you've got a daily driver, a weekend toy, and a project car in the shed, they can all live in your RateMyRide garage.
For the best ratings, we recommend uploading:
- Front 3/4 angle shot
- Rear 3/4 angle shot
- Side profile
- Interior / cockpit shot
- Engine bay (if you're proud of it!)
- Any detail shots of mods or unique features
Good lighting and clean backgrounds help your ride look its best. Make sure photos are of your actual vehicle — stock images or photos of other people's cars are not allowed.
The Build Journal lets you document your vehicle's modification history over time. Each entry is timestamped and can include photos and descriptions. It's a great way to showcase the work you've put into your ride and inspire others. Think of it as a timeline of your build from stock to show-ready.
Yes! You can edit your vehicle details, swap out photos, or remove a vehicle from your garage at any time from the Garage tab. Note that removing a vehicle will also remove its ratings history and build journal entries.
Ratings & Scores
RateMyRide uses a multi-category slider system. When you rate someone's vehicle, you score it across categories like exterior styling, interior quality, modifications, and overall impression. Each category uses a 1-10 slider. Your vehicle's overall score is calculated from the average of all ratings received.
Individual ratings are anonymous to encourage honest feedback. You can see your aggregate scores across each category and how they trend over time, but not who gave specific scores. Comments on your vehicle are visible with the commenter's profile.
Leaderboards rank vehicles by their average community rating. There are several leaderboard types:
- Weekly: Resets every week — your chance to be Vehicle of the Week
- Monthly: Top-rated rides of the month
- All-Time: The highest-rated vehicles ever on the platform
- By Category: Filter by make, model, or vehicle type
Challenges are daily and weekly tasks like "Rate 5 vehicles today" or "Add a build journal entry". Completing challenges earns you badges displayed on your profile. Maintaining daily streaks earns streak rewards. Seasonal events introduce special limited-time challenges with exclusive badges.
If you rate the same vehicle again, your new rating will replace the previous one. This is useful if someone updates their photos or makes significant modifications. You can only rate the same vehicle once per day.
Marketplace
To list a vehicle for sale:
- Go to your Garage and select the vehicle
- Tap "List for Sale"
- Set your asking price and add sale-specific details
- Your listing will appear in the marketplace for other users to browse
Vehicles listed for sale keep their existing ratings and build journal, giving buyers confidence in the vehicle's history on the platform.
On any marketplace listing, tap "Send Enquiry" to message the seller directly. Include your questions or make an offer. The seller will receive a notification and can respond through the app.
Boosted listings get premium placement in the marketplace search results and feed. If you want more eyeballs on your for-sale vehicle, boosting is the way to go. Boost durations and pricing vary.
No. RateMyRide provides the platform for buyers and sellers to connect, but all transactions happen between the parties directly. We recommend meeting in safe public locations and using secure payment methods. Always inspect a vehicle in person before committing to a purchase.
